Goldikova has inside line to Breeders' glory

Thomas Kelly

Goldikova will break from stall one in her bid to win a fourth Breeders' Cup Mile on Saturday.

Freddie Head's star mare, who faces 12 rivals in her shot at history, fared much better than her major market rival, Richard Hannon's Strong Suit, which needs to overcome barrier 11.

Andre Fabre's Byword is in eight with Aidan O'Brien's Zoffany next to Goldikova in two.

O'Brien's So You Think, which will be partnered by Ryan Moore, was handed stall five in the Classic and it emerged before the draw that he will be running in blinkers. Favourite Uncle Mo is in 12.

In the mile and a half Breeders' Cup Turf, traditionally a European stronghold, St Nicholas Abbey, which will be ridden by Joseph O'Brien, is in one, Sarafina in two, Await The Dawn (Julien Leparoux) in six, Sea Moon in seven and Henry Cecil's Midday in nine.

In the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, O'Brien's Wrote will break from stall five.

O'Brien's pair in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile suffered differing fortunes with Daddy Long Legs out wide in 11 but Crusade in three.

In the Filly And Mare Turf, Varian's Nahrain (five) fared much better than O'Brien's Misty For Me in 12.
