The Grey Gatsby is returning to these shores and heading for the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.

Conqueror of Aidan O'Brien's star colt Australia in the Irish Champion Stakes last September, Kevin Ryan's charge also won the French Derby in a fruitful three-year-old campaign.

He was a hot favourite to make a winning reappearance in the Dubai Turf on Saturday, but was no match for impressive French challenger Solow over the nine-furlong trip.

Ryan reports his charge to have taken his exertions well and he's set for the Curragh on May 24 before a likely tilt at the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot. "He's come out of the race fine and is on his way home," said the Tipperary native. "The Tattersalls Gold Cup will be his next race."

Meanwhile, there was a major boost for this year's Irish Champions weekend yesterday when it was announced that Swiss watchmaker Longines has become the title partner for the two-day Flat festival at Leopardstown and the Curragh.
