TRAINER Evan Williams intends to give Barizan a prep run on the Flat before sending him across the Irish Sea for the Guinness Galway Handicap Hurdle on August 1.
The seven-year-old showed he was over his problems when winning the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle, formerly known as the Swinton, at Haydock on Saturday.
"When he's right you can't question his commitment to the cause," said the Llancarfan trainer.
"He is very tough and very genuine when he's right. It's great that he's managed to get somewhere near his best.
"Galway is definitely where we will aim to go because you can get the ground he tends to like and it's such a quality handicap you could get the type of horses that would enable him to get in off a decent racing weight.
"He won a Grade One in Punchestown for us, so he doesn't mind travelling and that's another thing in his favour. He enjoys a bit of a trip rather than worry about it.
"He'll have a freshen up now for a couple of weeks and then he'll probably have a run on the Flat as a pipe-opener before we go to Galway."
