Fox Norton made his triumphant first start since joining trainer Colin Tizzard when coming out on top in Cheltenham's Shloer Chase in a race marred by a fatal injury to Simonsig.

The 5/2 shot came through strongly for Aidan Coleman, storming into the lead before the second-last fence after Special Tiara had set the pace.

The Nicky Henderson-trained Simonsig was put down after breaking a leg at the third fence.

Winner of the Neptune Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2012 and the Arkle Trophy a year later, the 10-year-old grey won eight races from 13 starts under Rules in a truncated career that was thwarted by fitness issues.

North Hill Harvey plugged on resolutely up the hill to take the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle after a 219-day absence, while Moon Racer upheld form with Ballyandy in the Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle.
