Fairyhouse succumbs to big freeze
Thursday's rearranged meeting at Fairyhouse has been cancelled due to snow.
The valuable card, featuring three Grade One races, was supposed to take place on Sunday but was put back due to frost and snow.
But following an inspection by Irish Turf Club officials, the meeting has been called off once again.
There is currently a six-inch covering of snow on the track.
Horse Racing Ireland are determined to save the showpiece fixture and have now moved it to Wednesday, December 8.
Peter Roe, acting manager of Fairyhouse said: "We have six inches of snow on the track and the forecast does not predict any immediate improvement.
"We hope there will be some let up over the weekend which will allow us to run this meeting next week.
"We understand the inconvenience for all involved from sponsors to trainers to race goers and I'd like thank everyone for their support.
"We will be monitoring the weather over the week and very much hope to see as many people as possible here next Wednesday for a fabulous day's racing. We will also be racing here on December 11 as scheduled."
