Akito was gifted victory after a dramatic climax to the Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Annual Members Chase.

Just five runners contested the feature event and that number was reduced by one when All Hell Let Loose suffered a heavy fall early in the two-mile-five-furlong contest.

Bellow Mome (8/11 favourite) and Flaxen Flare (9/2), representing the title-chasing pair of Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott respectively, pressed on at the head of affairs and looked to have the race between them approaching the second fence from the finish. However, both horses made serious mistakes and Ruby Walsh and Jack Kennedy ended up on the deck.

That left Shay Barry's 25/1 shot Akito in the clear under Brian O'Connell and he safely negotiated the final obstacle to seal an eight-length verdict over Stone Hard.
