DO THE DOUBLE

SOCCER:

I've been to one or two Old Firm games in my time and the one thing they never lack is passion and commitment. So much so, that in the last 11 seasons, Celtic and Rangers have only had two 0-0 draws. The outcome of tomorrow's renewal is hard to call with both teams so far avoiding defeat this season, so the safest option is to back both teams to score, which is available at 4/5 with a number of bookmakers.

HORSE RACING:

Elzaan would be a lot shorter than 13/8 for the Newbury John Smith's Extra Smooth Horris Hill Stakes (2.05 Newbury) had he not flopped in the July Stakes at Newmarket. But it's my gut feeling that his previous run in the Coventry Stakes (when beaten by a nose) took a lot out of him and he's probably best after a break. Not only that, he was quite sick at home soon afterwards, so there may have been an underlying problem in the background. Sources close to the yard say he's in flying form now and if back to his best, he should take all the beating this afternoon.
