Cooper hits mark with De Maree

RISING star Bryan Cooper showed he is a good judge of pace when getting Raz De Maree home in the featured Boole Handicap Hurdle at Cork.

The Adrian Maguire-trained Let Yourself Go made a bold bid when kicking for home approaching the straight in the three-mile contest and had a clear advantage two out.

However, Cooper didn't panic aboard Raz De Maree, which he moved up to challenge at the last.

Dessie Hughes' charge got the final flight wrong but soon recovered and powered home to lead in the closing stages for a cosy three-parts victory under Cooper.

Ruby Walsh visited the winner's enclosure earlier after Bog Warrior got off the mark over timber with the minimum of fuss when claiming the two-and-a-half mile maiden hurdle. The Mouse Morris-trained Baily Green, meanwhile, won the opening maiden hurdle with Andrew McNamara up.

Martin Lynch got a boost ahead of Oscar Time's Grand National bid when Maple Lady sprang a 40/1 shock in the bumper under his son, Mark.
