Chicquita to race on

Ashley Iveson

Bloodstock agent Ross Doyle has revealed Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita is likely to stay in training next season after paying €6million for the filly at the Goffs November Sale.

The three-year-old was the jewel in the crown of Australian owner-breeder Paul Makin's spectacular 24-horse Paulyn Dispersal draft and attracted huge attention in the sales ring on Friday evening.

Chicquita won the Irish Oaks at the Curragh by half a length in July for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre and also finished second to Arc heroine Treve in the French equivalent a month earlier.

Doyle, who purchased the filly with his father Peter, would not reveal his client, but expects Chicquita to race on as a four-year-old in 2014.
