Four statues have been erected at Cheltenham, for the first time, one of them will depict a man and not a horse. The legendary AP McCoy.

His wife Channelle and son Archie were in attendance as the 20-time champion jockey unveiled the life-size statue of himself.

The bronze likeness is located just below the parade ring just opposition the statue of Gold Cup hero Best Mate.

"Some have said it has a better personality than I have," McCoy joked after removing the McManus colours that covered the Paul Ferriter creation.

"Unfortunately, it looks exactly like me."

It seems apt that a man known for his iron will would be immortalised in bronze at the mecca of national hunt racing.
