Top trio going for Gold

The Tote Gold Cup has been one of the most open events run in years and the betting on next Saturday's final illustrates that point perfectly.

Paddy Power lists three of the finalists -- Judicial Academy, Slippery Bob and Quick Lee -- as 3/1 joint favourites to lift the €25,000 prize.

Just two spots separated heat winners Quick Lee and Judicial Academy on Saturday, while Slippery Bob made an amazing recovery to qualify after losing a lot of ground in the early yards.

That was in the second heat, where John Robinson's Quick Lee led from the first bend and won by a length and a half from Joey Jojo Junior in 29.97, with Slippery Bob just three parts of a length third.

The opening heat saw Moes Tavern make a game bid to lead all the way, but he was caught in the final yards by the Michael O'Donovan-trained Judicial Academy, which won by half a length in 29.99. Hats My Boy grabbed the third position.

Borna Del was fastest in the Roches Feeds Oaks at Limerick when winning by a short head from Tyrur Tinkerbell in 28.56. The other heat winners were Express Trend 28.77, Inshaarla 29.16 and Air Force Ellie 28.86.

Sheepwalk Mac flew around Curraheen in 17.51 in a heat of the Kudos Supersprint while the other heat winners were Yes Boss in 17.52, Busters Choice 1769 and Pesoto 17.75.

Tote Gold Cup betting -- Paddy Power: 3/1 Judicial Academy, Slippery Bob, Quick Lee; 4/1 Joey Jojo Junior; 9/2 Moes Tavern; 14/1 Hats My Boy.
