Battler Beshabar should prevail

Julian Muscat

It must be hoped that Haydock's card survives, since Beshabar has attractive prospects in the Rendlesham Hurdle (2.30). Paul Nicholls' horse is a dour stayer and conditions very much suit.

Haydock also suits L'Aventure, which has run a number of good races at the Lancashire venue. Shuffled back at halfway before finishing fifth in last year's renewal of the Blue Square Gold Cup (3.35), the quirky mare is quite capable of making amends today.

And Edgbriar is the day's best bet in the novices' handicap chase (4.45). His last run at Cheltenham was his best and he is on the up.
