Hannon duo primed for Guineas

Richard Hannon will launch a twin assault on Saturday's Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas with both Ivawood and Estidhkaar set to line up at the Curragh.

Ivawood put a rather dull reappearance in the Greenham behind him when finishing third to Gleneagles at Newmarket.

In contrast Estidhkaar ran much better in the Greenham but not for the first time disappointed at Newmarket and Hannon is hoping the Curragh will suit him better.

"Ivawood showed us at Newmarket when finishing third to Gleneagles that he was a lot better than he looked in the Greenham at Newbury," the champion trainer told

"He is a big colt and maybe he was not as fit as we thought he was in the trial, but you saw the real Ivawood in the Guineas and, while we aren't claiming we would have beaten Gleneagles, we might have been a length or two closer had we not been drawn out in the middle.

"Estidhkaar, in contrast, never ran a race in the Guineas. He did not enjoy the dips and ridges of the Rowley Mile when he injured himself in last year's Dewhurst, so we think the Curragh will suit him better.

"He worked really well when Dane O'Neill came to sit on him on Saturday and he can also expect easier ground in Ireland which will suit him."
