Leading British marathon runner Roxholme Magic will lend a strong international flavour to the Track Bookmakers Marathon over the 1,010-yard trip which starts at Harold's Cross on Friday night.

The leading eight bend performer across the water hasn't run since early in July but a month earlier had smashed the track record when winning the famed Dorando Marathon at Wimbledon on the English Derby final undercard.

Hayley Keightley's bitch will have her work cut out against the home team led by Pat Dalton's veteran stayer Tradition. The latter smashed her mother Flying Winner's track record when winning last year's final and is strongly fancied to successfully defend her title.

Entries close today and among the other runners are another top English stayer Ribble Atom, currently with Liam Ramsbottom, Jackeen Flyer, Trying Times and Clonkeen Class.

The All Pet Supplies Gold Collar also starts on Friday night and these entries also close tomorrow. Early entries for this 550-yard event include Christines Boss, Mountaylor Queen and Wishful Flyer.

The Harold's Cross card on Friday also includes the final of the Grand National, where the two favourites will be runaway semi-final winners Monamolin Tank and Brinkleysdominic.

News from the Comerford Cakes Open at Shelbourne is that Toolmaker Metro is doubtful after sustaining a potentially serious injury on the way to the pick-up on Saturday night.

He ran a big race in second behind Droopys Wilbury but was clearly in stress at the pick-up.
