Sonic treated racegoers to a superb performance when overcoming early problems to grab a last gasp victory at Shelbourne on Thursday while many of the top stars will swing into action in the remaining BoyleSports Irish Derby second round heats this evening.

The focus will be on Sonic's kennel companion Clares Rocket (9.12) in a red hot Heat 12 which also includes fellow leading fancies Dorotas Wildcat, Jaytee Yankee and Hovex Mick. There will be no room for errors but Clares Rocket should prove too good from his trap six draw.

Graham Holland, trainer of Sonic and Clares Rocket, has another strong contender in Clonbrien Hero (8.27) and the dual classic winner is taken to lead home Coolavanny Masokn and Cahir Castle in Heat 9.

Another terrific contest this evening is Heat 10 where last year's English Derby winner Jaytee Jet will be opposed by PJ Fahy's Tyrur Harold as well as Clona Kid, Cometwopass and Kilgraney Denver. The break will be vital but Tyrur Harold (8.42) may prevail.

Nuala Lynch's Pension Plan (8.57), Tom Buggy's Kilgraney Ace (9.27), Peter Cronin's Sab Miller (9.42) and Whoops Jack (10.12) and Pat Buckley's Droopys Wilbury (9.57) are other heat fancies.

Ian Reilly yesterday reported that Dream Dude broke a hock in Heat 7 on Thursday and an x-ray today will confirm the extent of the damage. Reilly was busy at yesterday's National Unraced Sale when purchasing top lot Allen Star for €12,000 on behalf of Ray Dean.
