Near neighbours Paul Hennessy and Tom Buggy provided the two semi-final winners in the Irish Independent Irish Laurels semi-finals at Curraheen Park on Saturday.

Hennessy, who had won the Dundalk International a few nights earlier with Jaytee Jet, supplied the first two home in the opening semi-final with the Bill Chawke-owned Chawke It Down flashing out of traps and he led home his kennel companion Away Jet by two-and-a-half lengths in a flying 28.04.

The other semi saw Tom Buggy's Kilgraney Denver retain his unbeaten record in the classic as he flew clear to the bend and led home Unknown Vision by two lengths in 28.12. Beannacht Tadhg was the third qualifier.

The draw for Saturday's final is: 1 Chawke It Down, 2 Away Jet, 3 Beannacht Tadhg, 4 Clonbrien Hero, 5 Unknown Vision, 6 Kilgraney Denver (m).

Hovex Mick and Vahsel Bay clocked identical times of 28.69 when winning the first two semis of the Champion 550 at Shelbourne.

The third heat was won by British challenger Calico Blackjack as he led from the second bend in clocking 28.79.
