The British challenge for the BoyleSports Irish Derby is growing as we approach the Saturday night closing deadline following the addition of two more challengers yesterday.

Latest names in the list are those of the John Lambe-trained duo of Charity Buster and Ballymac Darragh. The first-named won the Derby Plate on final night, while Ballymac hasn't run since contesting the quarter-final of the English Derby.

A large number of Derby contenders are due to be trialled at this afternoon's Derby Trial Session with a few more going through their paces before racing.

Paul Hennessy has decided against trialling his English Derby champion Jaytee Jet this weekend and the dog will go straight into the classic next week. Indeed, Hennessy will not give any of his other five challengers trials in advance of the event.

The draw is due to be made on Monday morning at 11am and will be streamed live on www.igb.ie/derby-draw-feed.

Best bet on tonight's card at Shelbourne can be Reggie Roberts' Idle Gossip (9.43) in the final of the Bookmakers A3.
