Kereight Dodger can deliver for Reilly
The stars of the track in 2016 will be honoured much earlier than in previous years, with the National Greyhound Awards due to be staged at Shelbourne Park on Saturday, February 11.
The racing on the night will be headlined by the final of the Best Car Parks Gold Cup.
On the subject of Shelbourne Park, no entries have yet been received for the Joe Dunne Memorial Juvenile 525 which is due to start tomorrow week.
The event carries a winner's prize of €7,500 and is confined to 2015 whelps.
A number of young dogs were due to be trialled last night, with more tomorrow night.
Harold's Cross hosts a ten-race card tonight. The top race is the concluding 525 where the big two are Ian Reilly's Droopys King and Aidan Denton's Kereight Dodger (10.10).
The latter has been in winning form of late and he clearly has the ability to win this contest.
One which appeals in an earlier contest is the Matt Owens-owned Saunders Dash (9.55) which looks favourably drawn on the inside in an A1 525. He is regularly there or thereabouts and can make the draw count against the likes of Grand National finalist Monamolin Tank and well housed Society St Ned.
Reilly has a fine strike rate at the track and his Clonkeen Ned (8,40) made an impressive winning debut last week when finishing strongly in 29.24. There is more to come from this fella and he can lead them home in the A3 fourth contest.
It's not often we get the opportunity to give Lifford Track a mention but this splendidly appointed venue has received a new year boost with increased sponsorship from A McLean Bookmakers, who will now be supporting three events.
