It's excessive on Longford's big night

It is not often that Longford commands the limelight but this is the annual big day at the track, with the final of the €5,000 Wallace & Murray Longford Derby down for decision, and a very competitive race it promises to be.
Boylesports and Paddy Power have opened a book on the event and the favourite with both is the Ollie Bray-trained Knight Invader, which is a best-priced 13/8 with Power. He was an impressive semi-final winner in a rapid 29.79 but he was drawn in one then and will have a tougher task from five, where he will have to clear the early-paced Stefans Dazzler on his immediate inside to the bend.
Stefans Dazzler is inclined to drift wide on the opening bend and that could be the crucial factor in this race.
Kevin Losty’s Excessive was the other semi-final winner when clocking 29.90 but he has drawn the inside trap and could get the run of the race along the inner.
He gets the vote to win for owner Andrew Kearney, with Tiernans Gift likely to get into the frame with his big finish.
Fraser Black has had an impressive strike rate at Harold’s Cross in recent times and he has a number of fancied runners at the Dublin track this evening.
Banker of the evening is Coolavanny Artur (8.55) in the final of the DGOBA 570. He was an easy winner of the semi-final in by far the fastest time of the stake and can lead home Danciabri.
Other Black runners worth support are Droopys Shareta (9.25) in an A4 525 and Mays Melrose (9.55) in an A1/2 contest. Clonmel Derby quarter-finalist Fuerty Express (10.25) has the pace to follow up last week’s win in the concluding A3.
