'Hero' an uneasy favourite in laurels
Despite being beaten twice in the classic, Clonbrien Hero remains the favourite for the Irish Independent Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park as we approach Saturday's semi-finals.
Graham Holland's Produce Stakes hero hasn't sparkled yet around Curraheen but he has run well in all three heats. He faces a very difficult task in the opening semi where he has to run from trap six and with plenty of early pace on his inner. He doesn't represent value at 3/1.
Next in the betting are Kilgraney Denver at 9/2 and Beannacht Tadhg at 5/1 and they clash in the second semi. Tom Buggy's Kilgraney Denver is currently running at the peak of his powers and he must have a massive chance of reaching the final along with his market rival, Gerry Holian's Beannacht Tadhg.
The leading odds with BoyleSports are: 3 Clonbrien Hero, 9/2 Kilgraney Denver, 5 Beannacht Tadhg, 8 Ela Alecko, Unknown Vision, 9 Loskeran Vardy, 10 Drive On Razer, 12 bar.
Dungannon handler Martin Hagan has been making quite an impact lately at Shelbourne and his Bearinthesquare was mighty impressive when winning his heat of an A3/4 Stake last week. He looks banker material for the final this evening.
