There was a major surprise yesterday when English challenger Dorotas Wildcat was withdrawn from next weekend's BoyleSports Irish Derby third round.

Kevin Hutton, who trains the Select Stakes champion, reported that the dog was lame after Saturday's race and a veterinary examination has revealed a ligament problem in a shoulder.

"It is very disappointing but isn't the end of the world" said Hutton. "He will be out of action for four to five weeks but hopefully he will come back as good as ever."

He was due to run in the third heat on Saturday and the revised line-up for that heat is: 1 Me Phat Daddy, 2 Vacant, 3 Impressive Guy, 4 Hovex Mick, 5 Skywalker Manner, 6 Jaytee Jet (w).

The sponsors have issued their heat betting on the third round and long-odds favourite Clares Rocket is listed as the hottest favourite of the evening. He is 1/4 for Heat 6 while Sonic is the next shortest at 8/13 for Heat 7. They have Clares Rocket as the 9/4 favourite to win the Derby.
