Good news for fans as Ireland get based in Poland

IRELAND will be Poland-based at the Finals. It was the only good news they got!

They will face Croatia and Italy in Poznan and – in between – will tackle the all-conquering Spain in Gdansk.

Holland, the world's number two ranked side, were drawn in a tough Group B with fellow former winners Denmark and Germany as well as 2004 runners-up Portugal.

Co-hosts Poland will open the tournament against Euro 2004 winners Greece in Warsaw on June 8.

The Poles, playing in the championship for only the second time, will also face Russia and the Czech Republic in Group A.

Tournament debutants Ukraine, the other co-hosts, will face Sweden, France and England in Group D and play all their matches in their own country.

Ukraine will get their tournament under way when they face Sweden, who will be making their fourth successive finals appearance, in Kiev on June 11.

Spain's blockbuster against Italy will take place in Gdansk on June 10 with the equally eye-catching Holland v Germany coming in the second round of fixtures in Kharkiv three days later
