It's time for the folks at the Golf Channel to start beefing up on their knowledge of Shane Lowry... his name would be a fine place to start.

The Offaly man will take a two-shot lead into today's action at the US Open at Oakmont with four holes still to play in his third round after play was suspended last night due to darkness.

The world number 41 lies on five under par, two shots clear of his nearest challenger Andrew Landry.

The world of golf is talking about him this morning but hopefully they are not referring to him as 'David'. The Golf Channel may have been hoping that the mistake would go unnoticed but English golfer Chris Wood was paying close attention.

It comes just a few months after Google claimed Lowry was from Australia.

Time for a little research guys!
