Watch - 'Who spent more on their engagement ring?': G-Mac and Shane Lowry prove their friendship in brilliant Q&A competition Newsdesk Newsdesk

Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell have made a solid start to the World Cup of Golf, shooting a level par opening round of 72 to leave the duo in tied seventh after day one.

The Spanish pair of Jon Rahm and Rafa Cabrera-Bello lead Lowry and McDowell by three strokes, but the Irish twosome are well placed for a run at the trophy after the first day's play.

As well as being great players in their own right, the chemistry between Lowry and McDowell could prove key over the weekend. The two are good friends, and proved it in this brilliant European Tour 'Team-mates' test.

McDowell was asked five questions and had to have his answer match Lowry's. The first one, 'Who spent more on their engagement ring?', set the tone for what was an enjoyable competition.

Hopefully the lads' seamless repartee carries over onto the course and delivers a second World Cup of Golf for Ireland.
