Shane Lowry's miracle escape on the final hole of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational has been voted the European Tour's Shot of 2015.
Leading by two shots on the 18th at Firestone, Lowry sent his drive into the trees but somehow managed to scramble from 127 yards to secure a par and the biggest win of his life.
"It was actually a pretty horrific lie." Lowry told EuropeanTour.com at the time. "It was sitting down in a hole. It was almost like someone had stood on it, but it was where the crowd was walking. And I just said to Dermot, I'll try and hit sand wedge and just get it down to the front of the green. I pulled it a bit too low and went into the tree."
"The rest is history."
European Tour fans were voting throughout December and nearly a quarter of all votes were for Lowry's winning shot at Firestone Country Club. The Irishman overcame competition from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Patrick Reed to win the award.
"It's a huge honour to win European Tour Shot of the Year, it's a shot I will never forget," Lowry told us. "Thanks to everyone who voted. I'm looking forward to another great season in 2016. I can't wait to get back to competitive golf next week in Malaysia when I represent Europe in the EurAsia Cup.'
