One Offaly pub will have to make good on a promise to give all customers one free drink after hometown boy Shane Lowry recorded a spectacular hole in one at the US Masters on Sunday night.

Giltraps Pub in Kinnitty, Co Offaly, guaranteed punters a complimentary libation should Lowry manage a hole in one, eagle or albatross during the last day of action at Augusta

Perhaps they thought any of these three events were improbable but Lowry's astounding feat on the 16th hole meant that all in attendance at Giltraps should have been toasting his shot with free booze.

Fine Gael councillor for Birr John Clendennen tweeted evidence of the pub’s special offer which is likely to affect their bottom line for the weekend.
