HEADFORT Golf Club in Kells, Co Meath and Portsalon, Co Donegal -- a perfect match for their members.

Their recent 'twinning' announcement offers enhanced value and is a ground-breaking idea for clubs looking to increase value for their memberships as well as boosting tourism.

Headfort's Christy O'Connor Jnr-designed New Course was rated as the best 'parkland' in Leinster and one of the top 10 in Ireland.

Portsalon, which is being continually developed under the guidance of Paul McGinley, was voted No 27 in the top 100 courses in Ireland.

The partnership will allow members to enjoy the facilities of the other club when they visit, while members from both clubs can play their respective Open competitions at members' rates.

Headfort captain Aidan Foley, vice-captain John Griffin and lady captain Martha Kennedy were on hand to formalise the deal with their Portsalon counterparts.

And as we note elsewhere in this page, Portsalon's captain Diarmuid Logue and lady captain Noreen McConigley used their experience of their visit to Headfort to good effect in the Allianz-Irish Independent Executive Trophy event at Malone.

Headfort's membership numbers are bucking the trend by increasing due to the value the club offers and this can only be enhanced by the link with Portsalon.
