Irish golfer Rory McIlroy and world number one Jordan Spieth enjoyed a light hearted Twitter exchange following a case of a mistaken identity.
Two-time Major winner Spieth tweeted a picture posing in Shanghai beside a poster of McIlroy.
“Greeted by fire and ice man at baggage claim...Hi @rorymcilroy” .The tweet was in reference to the recent advertising campaign for EA Sports by the star golfers. Spieth had been conveyed as ‘Ice Man’ due to his ability to keep a cool attitude while under pressure, while McIlroy was pictured as if he was on fire due to his red hot driver.
Unfortunately for Spieth, he mistakenly tagged McIlroy's fan account rather than the official account of the Irish sport star.
McIlroy spotted his opportunity and quickly responded to highlight the American’s error.
“@Jordan Spieth it’s @McIlroyRory actually…but considering the season you’ve had I’ll let you away with that one”.
The world’s top golfer has enjoyed a remarkable 2015, He was victorious at both the U.S. Open and the Masters and narrowly missed out on a third Major of the year at the British Open in St. Andrews.
McIlroy finished sixth at the Turkish Airlines Open over the weekend and is hoping to recapture his form as he aims to retain his title at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in January.
