Padraig Harrington's hopes of winning the 2017 Scottish Open took a massive blow this afternoon after the Dubliner carded a seven over par round of 79.

The Dubliner entered the third round as the joint leader alongside German Alexander Knappe on -9, but struggled with the conditions and enters the final round on -2, seven shots off leader Ian Poulter.

There was better news for Paul Dunne, who enters the final round just three shots off the lead after carding a three under par round to finish on -6.

Harrington had a mixed front nine, bogeying the first, fourth, seventh and eighth holes before making a birdie at the ninth.

However, the three-time Major champion followed that up with another bogey at ten before finishing off his round with a double bogey at 15 and a final bogey at 17.
