The solheim challenge

GOLFERS throughout Ireland will get the chance to help a worthy cause and compete for a trip to next year's Solheim Cup in America.

Killeen Castle is running the Solheim Cup Challenge throughout the summer and is encouraging club golfers to participate in the event, which supports Irish Autism Action.

The first of four qualifying events takes place on Sunday on the Jack Nicklaus championship course, with the competition open to four-person teams made up of any combination of male and female golfers.

Five teams from each of the four qualifying rounds will contest the Grand Final on September 23, with the overall winner receiving winning a trip for four to the 2013 Solheim Cup at Colorado Golf Club in Denver.
