Templemore native McCorduck takes reins as new ILGU president

MARJORIE McCorduck, a member of Roscrea and Courtown golf clubs, is the 32nd president of the ILGU. She started her two-year term of office at the recent agm of the union and succeeds Anne Wallace.

McCorduck, a native of Templemore, Co Tipperary, was lady captain of Roscrea in 1977 and represented Roscrea and Courtown in senior cup on many occasions, having achieved her lowest handicap of four.

She has vast experience at all levels of administration, including service as a member of the Ladies Golf Union (LGU) Council and the ILGU Council in the past 10 years.

ILGU board members Teresa Morgan(Ardee), Nora Murphy (Curragh) and Bernie Treacy (Donegal) retired after their three-year terms and were replaced by Dympna Conlon (Black Bush), Bernadette McTague (Birr) and Vonnie Noonan (Co Longford). Kathryn Whatley (Ardee) joined the board as finance director as did junior development director Irene Poynton (The Island).
