Classic championships deserve classic venues and when the PGA in Ireland saw the chance to stage the next three Irish Professional Championships on the Twin Oaks Championship Course at Moyvalley Hotel & Golf Resort, it was a no-brainer.
With the Co. Kildare resort on board as title sponsor and host venue until 2018, there is growing excitement about the 106th staging of the championship from September 21 to 25.
In a mark of respect, the PGA in Ireland will host the inaugural Christy O'Connor Jnr Irish PGA Championship Pro-Am at Twin Oaks on Wednesday, September 21.
The Shabra Charity Foundation, founded by the late Oliver Brady and resort co-owner Rita Shah, is the Official Charity of the event.
The charity has raised over €600,000 and has donated to St Luke's, Tallaght and Mater Hospitals. It also supports international projects in Nigeria and Kenya to build schools and further children's education.
A bumper field is expected to tee it up on a course where Robert Coles won the Challenge of Ireland after a playoff with Ryder Cup player Nicolas Colsaerts in 2009.
Set amidst 550 acres of historic North Kildare countryside, the course is back to its best after a major investment programme and this year's championship promises to be one of the best ever.
"Incredible investment has been made," Mrs Shah says.
"Things had to be fixed and a new marketing plan put in place and a lot of money was put into the golf course to bring it to the next level."
