Offaly's Shane Lowry will be among the European ranks when they take on Asia in the second EurAsia Cup in Malaysia this weekend.
The EurAsia Cup will take place at Kuala Lumpur's Glenmarie Golf and Country Club and Darren Clarke will be captaining the Europeans, as he seeks to build up his own experience ahead of the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine in September.
Clarke’s 12-man team to face Jeev Milkha Singh’s Asian side are hoping to become the first team to take the EURASIA CUP back to Europe after the inaugural event ended in a memorable 10-10 draw in 2014.
World number 21 Lowry is hoping to show Clarke what he is capable of this week at the beginning of a year that could see him represent Ireland at the Olympics and Europe in Minnesota.
“I am looking forward to it – to play for Europe at any level is an honour, but to be able to do it as a professional playing alongside so many great players is going to be fantastic," Lowry told Europeantour.com.
“One of the main reasons I wanted to play the EURASIA CUP so much was to get invaluable team experience in a Ryder Cup year. A lot of the lads on our team next week are looking to qualify for The Ryder Cup this year and next week gives us a great chance to show Darren what we are capable of and hopefully impress him.”
