Delgany's Marc Nolan added his name to the list of greats when he fired a course record 64 en route to a four-shot win in the prestigious Midland Senior Scratch Cup at Carlow.

Nolan slashed two shots off the previous record of 66 held by Carlow's John Greene, Limerick's Pat Murray, Forrest Little's Eoin Arthurs, Hermitage's Brian O'Connor and year's Midland Scratch Cup winner, the reigning West of Ireland champion Jonathan Yates from Naas.

While Nolan shot a six-over 76 in round two, his total of level par 140 was enough to win comfortably from Mullingar Electrical Scratch Trophy holder Ronan Mullarney (144, 75-69) from Galway.

Co. Sligo's TJ Ford (145, 76-69) was five behind in third place, in an event which has been captured by greats of the game such as Peter McEvoy, Pádraig Harrington and JB Carr.
