Proud rookies

Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele marked their first appearance at a Major by playing in the final two groups yesterday. These two have much in common. They became friends on the Nationwide Tour; marked their rookie season on the PGA Tour this year with victory in Texas, Bradley winning the Byron Nelson and Steele the Texas Open; and both use belly putters.

They also have strong Irish links. "The Bradley family is intensely proud of its Irish heritage in Cork," says Keegan, who hopes "some day to play the Irish Open. I visited Ireland when I was eight and really want to go back." His aunt, Hall of Famer Pat Bradley, is an honorary member of Old Head and Kenmare Golf Clubs.
