SEAMUS POWER endured a heart-rending dose of deja vu at the
Plantation Reserve in Florida. For the second year in a row, the West Waterford man was cruelly denied a place in the US Tour Q-School final, which takes place at the end of the month.
Power (25) was 16th overnight – and just inside the all-important 19th place and ties qualifying mark – yet he fell two strokes shy after a final-round 71 left him tied 28th on eight-over. England's Ross Fisher advanced in 13th on 11-under after a 69, while Ollie Fisher scraped through on 10-under.
Meanwhile, Gareth Maybin eased through the cut at the South African Open, effectively making sure of his European Tour card for 2013. He shot a two-under-par 70. Henrik Stenson's second-round 65 edged him four clear on 13-under.
Graeme McDowell made an eagle-birdie start at Kingston Heath, but still barely scraped through the cut on five-over at the Talisker Masters as he slumped to a nightmare second round 77.
