Poulter the cereal prankster
Is the Ryder Cup dishwasher proof? This was just one of the questions being asked yesterday after Ian Poulter posted a video on the web of himself and his children eating cereal out of the Samuel Ryder pot.
Poulter has bombarded his Twitter followers with shots of the Ryder Cup in various locations around his Florida home. One carried the caption: 'Just off out to dinner with the love of my life sitting right next to me.'
Yesterday's offering, entitled: 'This is called breakfast with the Ryder Cup. The best yet,' was not universally well received. Indeed, it provoked outrage in some quarters with the director of golf at The Belfry, Gary Silcock, expressing his disappointment.
"I think taking a drink from it is one thing, but to eat cereal with your children is another. This is not in keeping with the traditions of golf."
Well that might be the case were Poulter eating out of the Ryder Cup.
When he was tracked down, Poulter revealed his secret. "The trophy is a replica sent to all the players. It is a nice thing to do. Obviously, I wouldn't have dreamt of eating out of the real thing. Champagne perhaps, but not Cheerios."
