NOW he's certain to miss the FedEx Cup play-offs, Tiger Woods is likely to make less than $1m prize money this year for the first time since 1996, when he earned $790,574 in eight events as a fledgling Tour pro.
So far in 2011 Woods (pictured) has played seven times, banking $629,863. His biggest cheque was at The Masters, where he won $330,000 in a tie for fourth. Since crashing into that tree outside his house in November 2009, Tiger has averaged just $25,661 in each round he's played on the US Tour, nearly one eighth of the average $200,000 he won in previous years. It makes the reputed $1.3m per annum retainer he supposedly used to pay ex-caddie Steve Williams look pretty steep!
