Ireland’s Paul Dunne is only five shots off the lead at the Farmers Insurance Open after shooting a one-under-par 71 on Friday.
The Wicklow native went into the weekend tied for 18th place after yesterday’s showing, having hit an ultra impressive 69 in the opening round on Thursday.
The 23-year-old dug deep to make the cut after a disappointing back nine, following bogies on the 10th and 12th holes. However, a birdie-eagle rally on 17 and 18 ensured Dunne remains in the hunt.
As such, the PGA Tour debutant has already outlasted the likes of Jason Day and Phil Mickelson. South Korean KJ Choi is currently top of the leader board.
