Paul Dunne is now ranked as the second best Irish golfer in the world
Greystones Paul Dunne is now the second highest rank Irish player in golf.
Rory McIlroy is ranked as the sixth best player in the world but Dunne has continued his climb after his victory in last week's British Masters catapulted him into the top 100.
His tied-seventh place finish the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has helped him into 80th position, picking up a cheque for €93,955 in the process and he's 13th in the Race To Dubai standings.
One of the players he leapfrogged this week was his friend and compatriot Shane Lowry who finished in a tie for 25th yesterday.
The Offaly native has jumped two places to 82nd as a result of his performance.
Both men will be hoping to force their way into the world's Top 50 within which players are exempt for all events.
Graeme McDowell is ranked 141st with Padraig Harrington 22 places further back at 163.
