Off-colour Lisa tumbles down field at Royal Liverpool
Lisa Maguire slumped to her worst ever competitive round to tumble down the leaderboard on the final day of the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy at Royal Liverpool yesterday.
The 16-year-old European champion from Slieve Russell was completely off colour as she carded a disastrous 88, the worst score of any of the 53 competitors. It was 16 strokes higher than she posted on Wednesday.
It gave her a 54-hole aggregate of 240 and took her from being the overnight leader to 27th place.
She was caught by her twin sister Leona, the British stroke-play champion who finished with her best round of the week -- a 75 -- to end on the same 240 mark as Lisa.
They were 14 strokes adrift of joint winners England's Harry Casey and Spaniard Harang Lee.
Irish boy Jordan Hood recorded a last-round 84 for a 247 aggregate and a share of 40th.
