Dubliner Richard O'Donovan was the top Irish player in the prestigious Lake Macquarrie tournament at the Belmont Club north of Sydney.
The Lucan-based East of Ireland champion finished with a flourish yesterday posting a three-under-par 69 in his closing round.
That gave him a 72-hole aggregate of 284 -- four-under-par -- to finish in a share of 14th place.
He was 10 strokes adrift of winner Daniel Nesbet and only one stroke clear of the next Irishman Gary Hurley, the West Waterford man who reached the second round of the Australian Amateur Championship the previous week.
Hurley finished with a 68 to add to his earlier scores of 76, 67 and 74.
Mourne's Reeve Whitson ended in 31st place on 287, with Dermot McElroy on 290 and Niall Gorey way back on 295.
