mower mAYHEM

"IT'S a little like cutting yourself with a razor on your wedding day," said Ken Mangum, Superintendent at Atlanta Athletic Club after his golf course was defaced on the eve of the US PGA by two malfunctioning mowers.

"I've got to tell you, last night we felt like our hearts had been ripped out," added Mangum after he and his team had to repair the 14th and 17th greens after a chunk of turf had been gouged out of the edge of both putting surfaces.

It's believed the brushes on both mowers dug into the surface at both greens because of a sudden increase in dew at 7.0. The patched areas will be treated as Ground Under Repair.
