THE finals of the Miele All-Ireland Ladies Fourball championships will be played at Glasson Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
More than 3,000 women golfers nationwide have competed this year and now there are only 32 left in four clubs to do battle for national honours.
The Heath, winners of the Western Region, defeated 2009 national champions Portumna en route to the semi-final.
They play Milltown, led by former international Deirdre Walsh, while Thurles meet first-time Northern Regional winners Rockmount.
- Glencullen Golf Club, founded in 1997, have won the Best Cup, the Dublin area competition for handicaps of 19 and above.
Club captain Jimmy Fitzachary was thrilled to accept the trophy -- the first win in the Glencullen's short history -- after their victory over Newlands.
The final was a two-leg affair. Newlands hosted the first leg and the matches finished 2.5 each. In the second leg Glencullen won 3.5 to 1.5.
The Glencullen heroes were: Declan Flynn, Leo Kearns, Pat Molloy, Michael Culleton, Maurice Neville, Gary Kelly, Gavin Costello, John Potts, Seamus Ryan, Brendan McGovern.
