McDowell and Weekley team up in bid for Shark glory

RYDER CUP rivals Graeme McDowell and Boo Weekley will become close allies for the next three days when they pair up for the annual $3m Shark Shootout at Tiburion Golf Club in Florida.

Following his impressive second place behind Jim Furyk at the Chevron World Challenge last Sunday, McDowell clearly is bringing good form into his final event of 2009.

McDowell paired up with Ian Poulter when he made his debut at Greg Norman’s annual pre-Christmas fund-raiser last year but the Englishman plays with his World Cup team-mate Ross Fisher this week. The 12 teams play moderated foursomes today, followed by better-ball tomorrow and a scramble on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Eamonn Darcy, Jimmy Heggarty and Denis O’Sullivan today fire their opening shots of the 2010 European Seniors Tour season in the first round of the Mauritius Commercial Bank Open at Constance Belle Mer Plage.
