Leona Maguire is one step away from the remarkable achievement of securing back-to-back successes in the French Ladies U-21 championship at St Cloud.
The brilliant 15-year-old from Slieve Russell powered her way through four rounds of the tricky Paris layout at the weekend and will today meet Norwegian Tonje Daffinrud over 36 holes in the final.
Leona, hotly tipped to make her Curtis Cup debut at Boston in June, overcame Scotland's Kelsey MacDonald and Norway's Elizabeth Haavardsholm on Saturday and beat England's Hayley Davis by 3&1 in the quarter-final and French player Lea Charpier 4&3 in the semi-final yesterday.
Leona's sister Lisa made a brave bid to make the final a family affair but after two splendid wins on Saturday went out 2&1 to the Czech Republic's Kiara Spilkova.
