While it's set up for players with handicaps of 16 or more and minimum of 36 combined, the action was high quality, despite strong winds and intermittent rain.

Hollywood Lakes took the top two matches with Joe Keogh and Richard Timmins, and Robert Geoghegan and Dermot Timmins putting points on the board. However, after John Browner and Shane Power beat Peter Kavanagh and Peter Bridgeman one up, Michael Gaughan and Eugene McDonald defeated Frank Byrne and Brian Daly 3&2 to leave everything hinging on the final game.

Playing with Maurice Bracken, Greystones had a hero in 17 handicapper Byrne, whose monster putt saw off John Elmes and Brendan Morgan and sent Nigel Robinson and Gerry Browner's charges to Castlebar for the All Ireland final from September 10-11.
