Dubliner Niall Kearney and Ulsterman Jonathan Caldwell kept in contention to progress to the second stage of the European Tour's Qualifying School by firing 71 for the second successive day at Frilford Heath in Oxfordshire.
Kearney, who helped Ireland become European Amateur Team Champions eight years ago, carded two birdies and two bogeys during an inconsistent opening nine holes, before offsetting a bogey at the 12th with birdies on the 11th and 14th.
The pair are in joint-ninth position.
Caldwell recovered from an outward 39 to collect five birdies on the homeward half.
David Rawluk's hopes of progress are hanging in the balance after following his opening 71 with a 76. Mark Morrissey will need a miracle after his 86 for an overall 24-over.
Brian Kelly, Ireland's sole representative in Bogogno, Italy, is 20 over par.
