Hume in fine form

Jack Hume starred for Europe as they opened up the defence of their Bonallack Trophy in style against Asia Pacific in Portugal.
The Naas man teamed up with reigning Welsh Amateur champion David Boote at Vidago Palace for the morning foursomes - which were delayed for almost two hours due to thick fog.
And the pair failed to disappoint as they romped to a 5&4 victory over Japanese duo Takumi Kanaya and Toshiki Ishitoku as Europe secured a crushing 4-1 win in the foursomes session.
Walker Cup star Hume was not involved in the afternoon fourballs stage - which was suspended in the evening due to darkness.
It proved to be a tougher opening day for the ladies' team who were playing in the inaugural Patsy Hankins Trophy without Olivia Mehaffey who withdrew due to illness last week. Europe lost the morning foursomes 4-1 - with only Maria Parra Luque and Albane Valenzuela tasting success.
