Hopkins hopes blown away

Jeff Hopkins was disappointed to finish in a three-way tie for second at the Lytham Trophy after challenging for the lead until the closing holes.
As fellow Irishmen Paul Cutler and Andrew Hogan were blown away by the gusting easterly wind that battered the Royal Lytham & St Annes Links, the 19-year-old from Skerries was left to rue two mistakes.
He moved to within three shots of winner Jack Senior but fell back, hitting bogeys at the 16th and 18th for a 77 and a 24-over-par aggregate, five strokes off the pace.
"I left myself with too much to do, but it was always difficult in that wind," said Hopkins.
Cutler finished last after an 86 and Hogan had a 78 for a share of eighth.
